Re: [Salon] As U.S. election nears, ‘fascism’ is in the spotlight again

With apologies for accidentally sending too quickly.

I intended to add as a corrective to right-wing/libertarian revisionist history some actual historical fact, of Teddy Roosevelt's Wars, as can be seen in the attached file from a book by a former foreign service officer who attempted with this book to offer a balanced description of our imperil history, though not strenuously opposed to it, from a historical basis. Which I don't either for historical reasons, except that there came a time when it had to end, not continue to expand, and to give reparations for what we did to those who suffered, and just because we can't undo history or all injustice in the world. But at least we should be "woke" to what we did, and who suffered from it, so we can go forth and not continue the evolution into totalitarianism as Hanna Arendt noted arose out of Imperialism.

As to fascist political theory in the U.S. and Trump/Vance, it's well established that as bad as right-wing, militaristic Democrats are, they at least have within them a faction that opposes U.S. support for Israel's genocidal imperialist aggressions, unlike the Republicans, who with Trump/Vance say "Finish them Off," to their partner Netanyahu, and share the same fascist political theory/ideology with Netanyahu/Ben-Gvir/Smotrich, Yoram Hazony's repackaged fascist theory of "National Conservatism." Which, as a virtual duplicate of Traditional Conservative Willmoore Kendall's own fascist political theory, now billed as Traditional Conservatism, and Trumpism, made Hazony's fascist political theory an easy sell to eager Trumpites/Traditional Conservatives, all eager "Fusionists" with Israel's fascists who share the same authoritarian ideology. Given that is so popular here, even amongst those couple of pro-Palestinians who nevertheless, lap up Trump's lies that he will restore Peace to the Mideast, ignoring its the Peace of the Palestinian Graveyard, one can't avoid seeing the complicity here in bringing about American Fascism. And with the Overton Window effect, pulling the Democrats ever further to the Right as well, in giving sustenance to their extreme right-wing elements such as Rahm Emanuel, the Clintons, Joe Biden, Harris, et al. And relegating those few opponents of genocide to political oblivion. That's how countries become full-fascist, and Totalitarian eventually, historically. And Trump, Vance, Bannon, the Schmittian editors of The American Conservative like Curt Mills, are shouting: "Faster," Please," just like that other fascist Michael Ledeen once did.

What they are applying here to define Trump as a fascist, as I do, are by common characteristics he has with fascists, which is a worthy way of analysis. But that has the disadvantage and detriment of taking a legitimate concern of people such as uncontrolled immigration, and imputing fascism on to his supporters. Instead, I have been arguing here for how many years that a fascist defines themselves by what is called in Political Science: Political Theory. Every fascist movement has an underlying political theory, which develops into an ideology, that when successful, becomes adopted as a worldview. That applies to Marxism as notably as fascism, but also to Imperialist ideology, as represented in the U.S. by both parties, though more so by the Republicans going back to Teddy Roosevelt's Wars: the Spanish American War, the Banana Wars, and WW I (though ignorant and/or duplicitous Republicans/libertarians would revise history to solely place blame for the latter as "Wilson's War," as my friend Jim Bovard and all other libertarians do so well to keep their favored Republican Oligarchs in power, it would seem.
